Hearing Aids

“Do I need hearing aids?” is a question that many people are afraid to ask. Often you are surrounded by family, friends, or coworkers who notice your hearing loss much more quickly, but it takes much longer to be sure for yourself. It can be hard for you to be subjective about how well you actually hear. The perception that one hears well is often the root of denial. So how do you know if hearing aids may be right for you?

Here’s a good place to start.

Please take the following quiz:

• Have family members or friends told you that you have hearing loss?
• Do people you speak to seem to mumble or not speak clearly?
• Do you have difficulty understanding speech of women and children?
• Do you have trouble hearing conversations in places where there is background noise like in a restaurant or crowded room?
• Do you have difficulty hearing over the phone?
• Do you often have to ask people to repeat?
• Do people mention that you play the TV too loud?
• Do you ever get confused about where sounds come from?
• Do you ever find yourself guessing what a person is saying to you?

Did you answer yes to two or more of the questions?

If so, it would be a good idea to come in for a free hearing consultation to determine if you need a hearing test. The quiz cannot determine if you have hearing loss or how much, but it will suggest if our hearing specialist should look a little closer at your hearing.
